| ABSTRACT |
Objective :
We investigated the effects of Taeyeumjowi-tang(TJT) on the high fat diet-induced obese.
Methods :
We examined the body weight of mice with high fat diet in the presense or absense of TJT water extract. And to elucidate the mechamism of inhibitory effects of TJT on obesity, we determined the activity of lipoprotein lipase in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.
Results:
TJT water extracts significantly inhibited the increase of body weight induced by feeding high fat diet in groups orally administered for 4 weeks at a concentration of 1.6 g/kg and 3.2 g/kg. Also, the activity of liprotein lipase in 3T3-L1 adipocytes was significantly induced by treatment of TJT water extract for 24 hours at a concentration of 2.0 mg/ml and 5.0 mg/ml. This results are confirmed by the assay of glycerol in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. And toxicity of TJT water extracts was not found in vitro and in vivo systems.
Conclusions:
The antiobecity effect of TJT may be due in part to inhibition of liproprotein lipase activity in adipocytes. |
