ABSTRACT |
Neurofibromatosis(NF) is an autosomal disorder characterized by neurofibromas and cafe-au-lait spots. NF affects the various kinds of organs, and result being a variety of congenital disorder. But, it have been very rarely reported about cerebrovascular diseases associated NF. We report one case of 55-year-old male admitted to the hospital with a left-sided weakness. On physical examination, we found cafe au-lait spots and neurofibromas. Computed tomographic(CT) scan of brain showed multiple infarction areas in the territory of middle cerebral artery. He complaints the left leg s numbness and spasm onsetting every night. We apply the muscle relaxant(Baclofen) for him, but it was not effective. Then, we admitted the Korean Oriental Herbal Medicine Samgieum( Sanqi-yin), and his symptom was improved. In this case, according to the brain CT and the other cases reported in the literature, the cerebral infarction seem to be a manifestation of vasculopathy in NF-1. We discussed the pathophysiology of vascularpathy in patient with NF-1. |
