ABSTRACT |
Objectives: With the increasing morbidity of cardiovascular diseases, both preventive and therapeutic attention is paid to arteriosclerosis. Many studies reveal that oxLDL plays an important role in accelerating arteriosclerosis. Clinically, to remove the coagulated blood and to facilitate blood circulation, Hyeolbuchukeo-Tang(HC) is prevalently prescribed. This study is aimed to observe the macrophage s suppressive activity of oxLDL formation.
Methods : The RAW 264.7 cells, cultivated murine macrophage, were respectively injected to both control group and 1 ㎍/㎖ , 10 ㎍/㎖ sample group of HC and cultivated. Afterward LDL was injected to both groups and cultivated for 90 hours. Then MDA, proteolytic activity, quantity of Nitrite were measured. Again, both groups of HC cultivated in the same way were exposed to CuSO4 for 20 hours to induce cell damage. Each group s cell suvival rate, LDL leakage level, and activity of damaged macrophage were measured and compared.
Results: 1. HC suppressed the oxLDL formation of macrophage. 2. HC increased the NO formation of macrophage. 3. HC increased the survival rate of damaged macrophage. 4. HC suppressed the macrophage s LDH releasing activity induced by oxLDL. 5. HC restored the macrophage s activity decreased by oxLDL.
Conclusion: Above data suggest that Hyeolbuchukeo-Tang is effective against arteriosclerosis. |
