| Anti-oxidative Effects of RADIX REHMANNIAE RECENS and PREPARATA on Toxic Agent Induced Kidney Cell Injury |

| ABSTRACT |
|
This study was carried out to determine if RADIX REHMANNIAE RECENS(RR) and RADIX REHMANNIAE PREPARATA(RP) have protective effect against cell injury induced by various toxic agents in rat kidney slices. Cell injury was estimated by measuring Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH). Lipid peroxidation was examined by measuring malondialdehyde, a product of lipid peroxidation. RP prevented the LDH release by CCl4, menadione, tert-butyl hydroperoxide and mercury treatment in vitro in kidney slices, but RR prevented the LDH release by CCl4 and mercury. RP also prevented reduction in GSH and lipid peroxidation induced by CCl4 and mercury. Thus, RP may have more powerful efficacy on anti-oxidative effects when compared with RR. And further studies have to bo followed concerned with preparation of RR and its change of effects. |
